PIP: Strive for Progress not Perfection

Image
Based on Yahelie’s last podcast, “Move for Progress, not for Perfection”(the podcast can be found on Spotify and Apple - The PIP Path),  I decided to write this blog post with the same theme. I found a quote: "Perfection is the enemy of progress," a classic aphorism frequently attributed to Winston Churchill.   As I write this post, I am reminded of my theory the PIP Path Model.  What is the correlation between the two? The PIP Path Model is based off of the 3 principles we have been sharing over the life of this blog, our podcast (The PIP Path) and at a summer conference.  Passion, Innovation and Perseverance are the keys to life’s success.  Perfection is really something that doesn’t exist in any form even though we may find ourselves exclaiming, that’s perfection!  To live for perfection will lead to disappointment and failure no matter the success.  When we have a passion for something, we want to find it.  We innovate our decisions in order ...

PIP: Can the PIP Path Help Us Navigate Unhappiness and Stress?

Image
What if the path to greater happiness isn't about changing everything around us, but changing how we approach the path we're already on? We live in a world where stress, uncertainty, financial pressure, political division, and concerns about the future can make happiness feel increasingly difficult to find. The numbers tell an important story. (Research through Google) Across 30 countries surveyed by Ipsos, an average of 71% of people describe themselves as happy, while 29% describe themselves as unhappy. Financial security is identified as a major driver of unhappiness, with 58% of unhappy individuals pointing to it as an important factor. At the same time, Gallup's global emotional health tracking indicates that approximately 39% of adults experience significant daily worry and 37% experience significant daily stress. And in the United States, the numbers are even more concerning. Nearly half of U.S. adults report experiencing significant daily stress. The American Psyc...

PIP: How Each Day Shapes Our Journey

Image
For this blog post, I’m going to simply write what’s on my mind. What am I thinking? When I look at the PIP philosophy (Passion, Innovation, and Perseverance) I want to explore how it impacts our daily lives. We often think of the PIP Path as something connected to our careers, dreams, or big goals, but perhaps it is much more than that. Maybe the PIP Path is really about how we approach each and every day. Every morning, we wake up to a new adventure. And with each new day comes a choice: How will we face it? Some mornings, we wake up feeling positive, energized, and ready to take on whatever comes our way. Other mornings, it’s not so easy. We may wake up already thinking about the commute, the difficult coworker, the workload waiting for us, the bills, the responsibilities, or everything that seems to be going wrong. Before we even get out of bed, our minds can already be focused on the negative. But what if we started each day by thinking about our passion? What if we asked ou...

PIP: Why Can't We Wait for Change?

Image
Author:  Vanessa Jimenez, Business Analyst The TAJL Group Change is a part of everyone’s life whether we’d like to admit it or not. Some people naturally react better to it than others. At some point in our lives, we’ve willingly changed it, it can be a small habit that we added or took out of our daily routine, or a tremendous change like switching careers. In either situation it has taken patience. “Patience is a virtue.” We’ve all heard it but, what is patience? It’s the ability to wait calmly. Abilities like patience can be learned, it’s not something you are born with. We are living in a time when we have a question, we can get an instant answer by searching it up. It has become difficult for us to learn this ability; it’s not our fault. It does become our fault when we don’t acknowledge it. Waiting is only part of it; we have to wait calmly. When we want a career change or are adding a small habit into our daily routine, it takes time but we eventually achieve it. In t...

PIP: Perseverance—The Power That Sustains It All

Image
If passion gets you started, and innovation helps you adapt, then perseverance is what carries you through. Because no matter how strong your vision is there will be challenges. • There will be setbacks. • There will be moments of doubt. • There will be times when quitting feels easier than continuing. This is where perseverance matters most. It’s not about pushing blindly; it’s about staying committed, adjusting when needed, and continuing forward with purpose. Entrepreneurs don’t succeed because they avoid failure. They succeed because they refuse to stop. The  the same is true for you. • Perseverance turns effort into progress. • Progress into results. • And results into fulfillment. This is the final piece of the PIP framework: Passion fuels you. Innovation guides you. Perseverance sustains you. Challenge: Think of one goal you’ve considered giving up on. Recommit to it today with one small step forward. PIP IT! Remember the foundation of our PIP Theory: 1.  Pa...

PIP: Build Your Brand, Build Your Life

Image
What is a brand?   In traditional or let’s say in an intentional meaning, it’s an ownership mark, stigma or a burning in wood.  But what is it in terms of you? Did you know you already have a brand?  The question is; is it intentional?  Your brand is: What you do consistently What you stand for How people experience you Your brand can be your credibility.  Are you trustworthy and dependable?  How are you perceived by others? When we look at more modern meanings of brand, we see that it is your reputation, your value and your identity. • Everyone has a personal brand (whether intentional or not) • Your brand a ligns with values and purpose • Authenticity of your brand creates connection and opportunity Your life is your brand, so design it intentionally. What do you want to be known for?  Challenge:    Create a "My Brand" picture illustrating your brand image, create a list of words that you see as your brand,  journal daily activiti...

PIP: Knowledge to Wealth - More Than Money

Image
When people hear “wealth,” they often think of money. But true wealth is much broader. • It’s time.                 • It’s freedom.           • It’s relationships. • It’s impact.             And it all starts with knowledge. Not just what you learn, but what you apply. In an entrepreneurial mindset, knowledge is an investment. Every skill you build, every lesson you learn, every experience you gain becomes an asset.  Knowledge alone isn’t enough. • Applied knowledge creates value. • Value creates opportunity. • Opportunity builds wealth. And that wealth shows up in multiple forms; not just financial, but personal and relational as well.  The more you grow, the more you can contribute.  The more you contribute, the more fulfillment you experience. Challenge: Learn something new today and immediately find one way to apply it.  Who will it ...

PIP: Action is the Bridge to Joy

Image
We often believe clarity comes before action. Clarity comes from action. Waiting for the perfect moment, the perfect plan, or the perfect feeling is one of the biggest reasons people stay stuck. Meanwhile, those who move forward, even imperfectly, create momentum.  Momentum changes everything. Action builds confidence. Action reduces fear. Action creates progress. Entrepreneurs understand this deeply. They don’t wait until everything is figured out; they test, adjust, and move forward. In reality, your life works the same way.  Joy isn’t just something you feel, it’s something you experience through progress. Every step forward, no matter how small, reinforces a sense of purpose and direction. Instead of overthinking your next move or waiting for a sign, make YOUR MOVE! Here is Your Challenge: Identify one thing you’ve been putting off. Take the first step today no matter how small. PIP IT! Remember the foundation of our PIP Theory: 1.  Passion activates intrinsic ...

PIP: Innovation Starts with How You Think

Image
Innovation isn’t reserved for inventors or entrepreneurs in business.  It’s a way of thinking, a mind set. At its core, innovation is the ability to see things differently and then act on it. Most people live within patterns. They follow routines, assumptions, and expectations without questioning them. But growth requires disruption. Entrepreneurial thinkers ask better questions: • Why does it have to be this way? • What if there’s a better approach? • What am I not seeing? Innovation begins when you challenge the default, the given. There is no reason for it to be dramatic. Small shifts in your thinking can create large changes in outcomes.  A new perspective can solve an old problem.  A new approach can open a closed door. When you train your mind to think creatively, you stop feeling stuck and start feeling empowered because you realize: there’s always another way.  There is always a solution to the issues, challenges and changes we face in life. Here is you...

PIP: Rewriting Obstacles into Opportunities

Image
Obstacles are unavoidable and a part of life. But how one interprets them is where everything changes.  Most people see obstacles as stop signs. Entrepreneurs see them as signals or road signs. Signals to adapt or yellow traffic warning signs like slippery when wet. Signals to learn or green guide signs like destination or mileage. Signals to innovate or red and white regulatory signs like yield. Every challenge carries something hidden inside it: a lesson, a skill, a redirection, or an opportunity for growth. The difference isn’t the obstacle it’s the perspective. When you begin to reframe challenges, you take back control. You move from being blocked to being strategic and a solution maker. Instead of asking questions like: “Why is this happening to me?” Ask: • What can I learn from this? • How can this make me better? • What opportunity is this creating? This shift doesn’t eliminate difficulty or the need to change lanes, but it transforms its purpose.  Over time, som...

PIP: Passion isn't Found, it's Built

Image
"FOLLOW YOUR PASSION" This may sound inspiring, but it's incomplete advice. Because most people spend years searching for passion as if it’s something hidden, waiting to be discovered. When they don’t find it, they assume something is missing. The truth is, passion isn't found it's built. Passion grows through action, curiosity, and engagement. It develops when you invest time and energy into something meaningful. It deepens when you push through difficulty and begin to see progress. Begin to think like an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs don’t always start with passion as they start with interest, opportunity, solving a problem or even necessity. Passion is developed as they solve problems, create value, and see impact. All this can apply to YOUR purpose. Purpose isn’t a lightning bolt moment. It is a pattern that is revealed through what you repeatedly do, care about, and commit to. Maybe instead of asking, “What’s my passion?” Start asking the following: • What am...

PIP: The Choice that Changes Everything

Image
Often there is a moment that is overlooked where everything in your life can begin to change.  It’s not when: You get a promotion When life gets easier Not when everything finally goes your way That moment is when you make a decision.  What do we mean?  Peace, happiness and joy are not conditions you stumble upon, but they are actually outcomes of the choices you make daily.  Most people live as if life is happening to them instead of understanding it is happening through them. An entrepreneurial mindset starts with ownership.  Entrepreneurs don’t wait for conditions to be perfect.  They don’t sit around hoping circumstances improve.  Entrepreneurs make decisions with uncertainty.  They take responsibility for our outcomes and choose the way they respond.  This mindset applies to YOUR life. You may not control every situation you face, but you always control your response to it. The response you make shapes your direction, your growth, and ul...

NEW Series: “The PIP Path: Turning Life into Opportunity”

Image
We would like to take you on an 8 series journey utilizing the concept of Entrepreneurship and building a stronger you.  We developed the PIP model for life, career and business.  Passion - Innovation - Perseverance are what lead you to a better you.  The goal at The TAJL Group is to help all who cross our path find True JOY, PEACE and HAPPINESS in life.  Over 29% of the people in the world report that they are not happy.  Even though a larger percentage of people on average are happy, many are rarely happy.  Why is that?  Having coached many, as an instructor, and as a consultant, I found it to be that most are not truly living their purpose. When speaking at events or even in the college and high school classroom, I always ask the audience "How many of you are entrepreneurs?".  Generally a very small amount of individuals and sometimes non at all raise their hands.  That's not true - WE ARE ALL ENTREPRENEURS!  The moment you were born,...

Writing by Hand Is the Mental Reset We All Need

Image
In a world where nearly everything happens on a screen, we've slowly traded pens and paper for keyboards and touchscreens. While technology has made life faster and more convenient in many ways, I believe we've lost something important along the way.  Moving away from computers even briefly and returning to handwriting and drawing can have a powerful impact on our mental health, focus and overall well-being. Handwriting can activate multiple areas of the brain at once such as motor skills, visual processing, and cognitive reasoning that all work together as research has shown. Unlike typing, which can become automatic, writing by hand requires deliberate movement and thought. This slower process forces the grain to engage more deeply with the material. Writing such as journaling, offers a safe and private space to release thoughts that might otherwise snowball.  Putting worries on paper externalizes them. Instead of carrying stress internally, you give it a  place to live...

Finding Peace in a time of Turmoil

Image
In a world that often feels like it’s unraveling where racism festers, democracy frays, and truth is treated like a disposable tool, it can be hard to breathe, let alone find peace. Every headline can feel like a punch. Every injustice another stone on our chest. Yet peace is not the same as passivity. It's not found in pretending things are fine. It is something deeper: a quiet strength we cultivate in the storm, not after it. Peace begins with honesty. We name what hurts. We acknowledge the racism, the lies, the corruption, the grief. We do not numb ourselves to it, we face it, together or alone, and say, this is not okay. That truth-telling is its own kind of peace. It roots us. From there, we protect small spaces of calm. A deep breath before we scroll. A walk without our phone. A conversation that restores instead of drains. In dark times, peace can be radical. It can look like rest. Like joy. Like holding space for beauty and for anger without letting either consume us....

Finding Hope and Peace in a Mean World

Image
In a world that often feels harsh, divided, and overwhelming, holding onto hope and peace can seem like an impossible task. Headlines scream conflict, social media fuels negativity, and even daily interactions can leave us drained. But amid all the noise and cruelty, hope and peace are still within reach not as naive illusions, but as powerful choices. Hope doesn't always come in grand gestures. Sometimes it shows up in small, quiet moments; a kind word from a stranger, a deep breath on a difficult day, or a sunrise that insists on rising no matter what. These moments remind us that goodness still exists, often tucked between the chaos. Peace, too, begins inside. It’s the decision to pause before reacting, to listen with empathy, to forgive even when it’s hard. It’s found in setting boundaries, in letting go of what we can't control, and in choosing kindness over cynicism, not because the world is perfect, but because we refuse to let it make us bitter. Yes, the world can...
